Westborough Power Choice is a Town electricity aggregation program, which is a kind of group electricity buying program.
The program gives Westborough residents and businesses an alternative to National Grid’s Basic Service and other electricity supply offers in the marketplace without high pressure or fees. The program changes the price that is used to calculate the Supply Services portion of each participant’s electric bill.
Through the program, electricity customers in Westborough receive more renewable electricity, long-term stable prices, consumer protections, and the potential for savings, though savings cannot be guaranteed. The additional renewable electricity added by Westborough comes through the purchase of renewable energy certificates (RECs) from Massachusetts Class I-eligible systems.
New electricity accounts in Westborough will be eligible for automatic enrollment in accordance with State law and will receive a letter in the mail from the Town prior to enrollment.
