Education and Prevention
Westborough Youth and Family Services' goal is to provide educational programming and information which will enhance the lives of children and families in Westborough.
Handouts and resources on a number of mental health and parenting issues are available in our office. Hot-line numbers, referral information and assistance accessing state programs are also provided upon request.
WYFS offers various programs to Westborough residents including:
American Red Cross Babysitter Certification Course
This course is taught by a Red Cross Certified Instructor. It's offered several times a year and is designed for students 11 years and older. In addition to learning babysitting essentials, first aid and basic business skills, participants will receive Red Cross Certification.
Youth Diversion Program
This program was developed to offer youths exhibiting at-risk behavior an alternative to court involvement, or the opportunity to reduce suspension from school activities for a violation of the school's Chemical Health Policy. Referrals are often made by the Westborough Police Department or the School Department but also may be made by parents when they are experiencing problematic behaviors in their adolescent.
National Depression Screening Day
We offer screenings in depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder on the first Thursday of October each year. Screenings at other times during the year are available by appointment.
Hot Summer Nights
A weekly, structured activity-based program providing kids ages 10-16 with recreational activities during the summer break. Activities have included a basketball tournament, rock climbing, day trips, movie nights and more.
